Role Description & Responsibilities

As a Summer Intern, you’ll learn the art and science behind the execution of private equity capital placements. You will work on live deals and deal proposals. You will split your time between our Fund Placement and Capital Solutions teams. You will work on projects that include (i) client due diligence, (ii) industry research, (iii) financial analysis and modeling, (iv) developing written materials, including offering memoranda and new business presentations

Fund Placement Project Management

The project management team within Sixpoint’s fund placement function offers interns the chance to engage directly in the fund formation and capital raising process for premier private equity firms worldwide. The project management team manages all aspects of a private equity fundraise including advising on positioning, preparation of marketing materials, coordinating investor meetings with the distribution team and fulfilling investor due diligence requests. The project management team helps Sixpoint’s clients face the challenges and opportunities of today’s capital-raising environment and is committed to seamless execution.

The position offers candidates the chance to take on a great deal of responsibility, work directly with senior professionals and clients, gain exposure to multiple industries, and have a direct impact on the success of Sixpoint’s business. The candidate will assist on the completion of 3-5 fundraising mandates at any point in time. An intern in the business will be expected to assist the team in preparing marketing and pitch materials for prospective clients as well as private placement memoranda, data rooms and investor presentation for firm clients. The candidate will also be expected to respond to qualitative and quantitative investor due diligence requests and manage investor reports. All project management functions are based out of Sixpoint’s New York office. The job requires management of multiple projects often under time constraints / deadlines, interaction and constant communication with clients, and great attention to detail.

Capital Solutions

Sixpoint’s Capital Solutions group is focused on the execution of secondary transactions and co-invest placements. The group manages all aspects of each transaction process with the goal of creating bespoke solutions to accomplish widely varying client objectives. The candidate can expect to advise on creative, tailored private equity liquidity solutions, perform comprehensive due diligence on a fund’s underlying portfolio companies, write and produce marketing materials (e.g., private placement memoranda, transaction presentations, due diligence materials, etc.), structure and coordinate a transaction timeline, respond to investor due diligence requests, analyze and compare potential bid pricing, terms and provisions, and advise on closings.

Due diligence may include qualitative and quantitative analysis of individual assets, as well as the underlying GP. An analyst in the business is exposed to all elements of a transaction and is critical throughout the engagement decision and advisory process. Additionally, this individual has significant interaction with the private equity client, as well as with the deal teams of the bidders. As a result, the analyst must possess a deep understanding of the drivers of the secondary private equity marketplace.

Sixpoint Partners will work with financial sponsors to efficiently source co-investment capital when fund limitations keep the GP from financing the entire transaction. Strategically placed co-investors can serve as more than a source of capital. When sourced and structured properly, co-investors also help GPs to broaden the reach and profile of their limited partner base and to increase a GP’s revenues.
